Welcome to Black History Month!

Welcome to February, Chimera Community! This month holds special significance as we celebrate Black History Month, honoring the remarkable contributions of African Americans to our nation\'s history, culture, and progress. Throughout February, our schools will engage in meaningful learning experiences that celebrate diversity and promote understanding.

As we move into the heart of the second semester, our students continue to demonstrate outstanding dedication to their academic growth. The mid-year assessment data has provided valuable insights, and our teachers are implementing targeted strategies to support every learner\'s success.

This week marks the beginning of our Black History Month celebrations with special assemblies, classroom activities, and community events. We encourage all families to engage in conversations about the important figures and movements that have shaped our nation.

Together, let\'s make February a month of learning, celebration, and Chimera Pride!

With Chimera Pride,
Marti Hill-Parker
Acting Superintendent of Schools

Black History Month Spotlight

This Week\'s Theme: Pioneers of Change

Throughout February, each week will focus on a different theme celebrating African American contributions. This week, we honor the pioneers who broke barriers and paved the way for future generations.

Students will learn about trailblazers in education, science, arts, and civil rights who demonstrated courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Featured Figure: Ruby Bridges

At just six years old, Ruby Bridges became the first African American child to desegregate an all-white elementary school in the South. Her courage in 1960 paved the way for educational equality.

"Don\'t follow the path. Go where there is no path and begin the trail."
